Excessive consumption of ground or processed red meat increases the risk of prostate cancer when overcooked. Researchers from the University of California obviously do not claim that red meat should be excluded from the diet. However, as they report in the journal "PloS One", they observe that a high consumption of minced or processed red meat increases the risk of developing prostate cancer, provided that it is usually overcooked; a preparation method that produces specific carcinogenic substances when the meat darkens. This finding is based on a comparison of the eating habits of thousands of men, half of whom suffer from an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The advice: eat red meat, yes, but in moderate quantities and cooked in moderation.
