In order to follow the development of your baby in utero, it is essential to calculate the weeks of pregnancy. This makes it possible to ensure that everything is going well and to react as quickly as possible. Especially if you notice something that worries you, such as a hard belly in the 36th week of pregnancy.
The abdomen suddenly becomes hard to the touch and then returns to its usual softness after just a few minutes. This can happen up to ten or fifteen times a day. These contractions of the uterus usually occur on the day before and on the day of the birth, but they can also occur during and at the end of the pregnancy. It is simply the body slowly preparing itself for the birth. A hard belly in the 36th week of pregnancy, if it is not painful, is therefore completely normal. Certain factors encourage a hardening of the belly: fatigue, stress, overwork, carrying heavy loads, or prolonged standing. It is of course advisable to rest, eat a healthy and balanced diet, take time to relax, and limit physical exertion as much as possible. Of course, you should not hesitate to talk to your gynaecologist or midwife about this concern. A simple examination will be enough to make sure that everything is fine.
