Atherosclerosis is a disease characterized by the build-up of atherosclerotic plaque in the arteries, causing them to harden and narrow. This can reduce blood circulation and increase the risk of serious complications such as heart attacks and strokes. Atherosclerosis is linked to a dozen risk factors of varying degrees of importance.  First, age. The older people are, the more their artery walls are altered. Then there's gender: men are more at risk than women, and family history. On the other hand, other factors can be modified, the three main ones being smoking, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia and high blood pressure.  For a natural treatment of atherosclerosis, smoking must be stopped, as it promotes the formation of blood clots and alters the elasticity of vessels, thus contributing to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. A specialist can help you stop smoking. Diabetes and hypercholesterolemia (excess cholesterol in the blood), which are generally linked to overweight and abdominal obesity, are also implicated in the risk of atherosclerosis. It is therefore essential to do everything in one's power to lose weight sustainably, why not with the help of a dietician-nutritionist, and to regulate one's diabetes. Finally, since high blood pressure is known to promote atherosclerosis, it should be monitored and, if necessary, regulated with the help of a doctor.
