Why is sport considered one of the best natural anti-agers? Because with
each session, the body activates deep-rooted protective mechanisms. On the
cellular level, physical activity stimulates mitochondria, those little energy
powerhouses, and promotes autophagy, which cleans out damaged cells and
replaces them with new ones. Muscles and bones also benefit. Muscle mass is
preserved, curbing sarcopenia, while bone density is maintained, reducing the
risk of osteoporosis. As for the skin, boosted blood circulation
brings oxygen and nutrients, supporting collagen production and slowing the loss
of elasticity.
But the effect doesn't stop at appearance. Sport reduces chronic
inflammation, improves heart health, regulates blood pressure, and above all,
stimulates the brain. It promotes cerebral plasticity, preserving memory and
cognitive functions as we age. Regular exercise has a profound effect at
cellular, muscular, hormonal and cerebral levels.
