The Ministry
of Health and Public Hygiene has a new leader. Professor Moustafa Mijiyawa has
passed the baton to Professor Tchin Darré following the formation of the new
government unveiled on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. According to directives,
Professor Tchin Darré will develop and ensure the implementation of state
policy in public health.
Born on
December 31, 1979, in Kabou, Bassar Prefecture, Professor Tchin Darré obtained
his high school diploma in Science (Series D) in 1999 and enrolled at the
University of Lomé in the Joint Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, where he
earned a Doctorate in Medicine in 2006. He then obtained a specialist degree in
Pathological Anatomy and Cytology in 2013 in Abidjan. He became a CAMES
Assistant Professor in 2014, an Associate Professor in Pathological Anatomy in
2016, and a Full Professor in 2020. He is a university lecturer and a
specialist in Pathological Anatomy and Cytology. He is married and the father
of two children.
Professor
Darré has held numerous academic and hospital positions, including: Referent
Head of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FSS) at the University of Lomé with
CADMEF and CIDMEF since 2016; Member of the CAMES aggregation competition
supervision committee at FSS in 2018; Member of the FSS examination committee
(organization, monitoring, and management of grades) in 2016; Head of the
Department of Basic and Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences
of the University of Lomé since January 2022; Dean of the Faculty of Health
Sciences at the University of Lomé since May 2022; Anatomopathologist at
Sylvanus Olympio University Hospital from March 2011 to January 2023;
Anatomopathologist at Lomé Commune Regional Hospital as Head of Department
since January 2023, and since January 2024, Anatomopathologist at CHU CAMPUS,
as Head of Department.
Throughout his
academic and hospital career, Professor Darré has provided numerous services to
the university, national, and international communities. These include training
deans, vice-deans, and department heads of the Faculties of Health Sciences at
the Universities of Lomé and Kara in quality management within universities in
the UEMOA region. He is a member of the expert committee for pharmacovigilance.
He has also participated in teaching General Pathological Anatomy at the
Faculty of Health Sciences in Kara and in foreign universities. He is a member
of the Medical and Biological Society of Togo, a full member of the Francophone
Africa Division of the International Academy of Pathology (DAF/AIP), and a full
member of the African Society of Morphology (SAMO).
Professor
Tchin Darré is the author of around a hundred scientific publications and has
delivered numerous presentations at international conferences and congresses.
