Purifying
the pancreas is very important. To maintain a good quality of life, we need to
regulate the body perfectly. This is not always easy, and sometimes a poor diet
can cause inflammation or overload the body. Phytotherapy and naturopathy offer
effective natural remedies for disorders and dysfunctions of the pancreas.
Here's
how to look after your pancreas using natural recipes. It may be advisable to
consult a naturopath.
Aubergine
The
American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends eating aubergines because of
their high fibre content and low glycaemic levels. Dr Kalidas Shetty, Professor
in the Department of Food Science at the University of Massachusetts (USA), has
closely studied the effects of aubergine on human health. Aubergine extracts
can inhibit the digestive enzymes that convert food into glucose.Inhibiting
these enzymes could slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, reducing their
absorption and thus limiting the rise in blood sugar after a meal. Anyone with
type 2 diabetes would do well to follow a low-carbohydrate diet and favour
foods with a low glycaemic index. Aubergines, which are low in carbohydrates
and calories and have a glycaemic index of just 15 (the maximum is 100), are an
excellent ingredient to incorporate into a multitude of everyday recipes.
Aubergines are full of fibre and contain very few soluble carbohydrates. The
large quantity of antioxidants present in aubergines helps to eliminate blood
sugar produced by free radicals. Other anti-diabetes nutrients in aubergines
include quercetin, beta-carotene, genistein and curcumin. Very low in calories but
highly nutritious, aubergine is a satiating food, which helps prevent snacking.

Mango
leaves
These
leaves are very beneficial to our overall health, as they are rich in vitamins,
enzymes, antioxidants and many minerals.A study ‘Flavonoid Composition and
Antioxidant Activity of Mango (Mangifera indica L.) Leaves’ published in ‘Food
Chemistry’ in 2019 evaluated the effects of mango leaf extracts on drug-induced
diabetic rats. The results showed a significant reduction in blood glucose
levels in animals treated with mango leaf extracts compared with the control
group. These leaves can reduce blood pressure and strengthen blood vessels.
Recipe:
First, take 10 to 15 tender mango leaves, then boil them in a glass of water
and leave overnight. In the morning, filter the water and drink it on an empty
stomach. For best results, this method should be used for two or three months.
You can also dry the leaves in a dark place and crush them. Use half a teaspoon
of this mango leaf powder twice a day.
Guava
leaves
According
to Hypoglycemic and Antidiabetic Effects of Psidium guajava Leaf Extract in
Diabetic Rats (2020), guava leaves may also help to treat diabetes and lower
levels of unhealthy fats. The study published in the Journal of
Ethnopharmacology assessed the effects of guava leaf extract on diabetic rats.
The results showed a significant reduction in blood glucose levels and an
improvement in insulin sensitivity in the treated animals.A clinical study
conducted in Brazil in 2019 and published in the International Journal of Food
Microbiology examined the effect of guava leaf tea consumption on type 2
diabetic patients. The results showed a significant reduction in fasting glucose
levels and markers of inflammation after six weeks of treatment.
In
cases of diabetes, a decoction of guava leaves reduces blood sugar levels and
does not stimulate insulin secretion. Drinking an infusion of guava leaves
regularly can naturally help to reduce bad fats by increasing the amount of
good fats in the blood. You can use fresh or dried leaves.Soak a few leaves in a
saucepan of plenty of water.Leave to prepare for 5 to 10 minutes.Leave to cool
and filter the infusion. Then drink.
Ginger,
garlic and honey
A
remedy based on ginger, garlic and honey is an excellent option if you want to
regulate the levels of unhealthy fats in the blood in a short space of
time.According to the study ‘Ginger: An Herbal Medicinal Product with
Antiinflammatory and Antioxidant Effects’ published in the ‘Journal of
Medicinal Food’ in 2005, this natural remedy strengthens the immune system,
helps clean out the arteries and therefore reduces the risk of suffering from
possible cardiovascular disease.
Recipe:
4 cloves of garlic, 3 centimetres of ginger root, ½ cup of lemon juice (125
ml), 8 cups of water (2 litres), 1 cup of honey (336 g). Peel the garlic very
well and add it to the blender with the pieces of ginger root.Blend for a few
minutes until smooth. Juice the lemon to at least half a cup and add it to the
mixture with the 2 litres of water. Finally, add the cup of honey and blend all
the ingredients thoroughly. Finally, filter the drink if necessary and pour it
into a glass container with a tight-fitting lid.Leave to stand for at least 5
days in a cool, shady place. Finally, you can use this remedy to reduce bad
fats. You can also keep this preparation in a cool place in the fridge. You can
take a cup of this preparation on an empty stomach or before each meal.Use this
remedy for a maximum of 2 weeks. In addition, eat a healthy, varied and balanced
diet and exercise regularly. Adopt a healthy lifestyle.Have an annual medical
check-up with your doctor to check your fat, triglyceride and blood sugar
levels.
Beetroot
and carrot
This
healthy juice should be drunk immediately, otherwise it will lose its
vitamins.Enjoy it at breakfast over a course of several days to optimise its
effects.According to the study ‘Dietary glycemic index and glycemic load and
risk of type 2 diabetes in women’, this juice has a relatively low glycemic
index, which means it has a moderate effect on blood glucose levels. The study
published in ‘The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’ indicated that this
juice can help regulate blood sugar levels by slowing the absorption of
carbohydrates. It may improve insulin sensitivity indexes in overweight and
obese people, but the direct effect on blood glucose levels needs more
research.
Recipe:
1 beetroot, 1 carrot, 5 spoonfuls of lemon juice (50 ml), 1 glass of water (200
ml). The first thing to do is wash the beetroot and carrot well. Then cut them
into small pieces to make blending easier. Once the two foods have been
blended, mix them with the glass of water and lemon juice. Drink in the
morning. It's good for the body.
Warning
These
recipes have interesting potential for helping to manage diabetes thanks to
their hypoglycaemic and antioxidant effects. As always, it is advisable to
consult a doctor before incorporating new supplements into the treatment of
diabetes.
