The
Prefectural Hospital Center (CHP) in Notsè held its 2023 review from 13 to 14
February 2024. The aim was to assess the performance of the activities carried
out last year. Specifically, participants were asked to take stock of the
implementation of the recommendations from the 2022 activity review, to present
and analyse the results of the technical and financial services for 2023, to
identify the strengths, areas for improvement, difficulties and constraints
related to implementation, to discuss the plan for resolving the priority problems
identified for 2024, and to collect the recommendations arising from the
proceedings.
All
the departments that make up the HPC presented their activity reports:
performances, difficulties, challenges, weak points and counter-performances
were highlighted. Working groups analysed the situation at CHP Notsè.
Mother
and child health: a major concern
At
the end of the meeting, it emerged that the health of mothers and children
remains a major concern, despite the efforts made by the hospital. « In
2022, we recorded 27 deaths among women.In 2023, we reported 13 deaths. That's
a lot.One already is too many. Among children, in 2022, there were almost 300
deaths. In 2023, 223 children died in paediatrics. Our current challenge is to
audit all these deaths to document the different criteria that led to this
unfortunate situation », said CHP Notse Director Dr Kprikpa Nadjombe.
According
to the presentations, the hospital also has a high rate of post-operative
infection. This is due to the fact that the hospital has just one operating
theatre for three major surgical departments.
The
region has a high rate of road accidents. To this end, the Ministry of Health
has assigned a professor of traumatology to the CHP Notsè. At the same time,
however, the hospital lacks a paediatrician and faces infrastructure problems.
Progress
noted
Generally
speaking, the 2023 review also found that progress had been made in several
departments, including medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics, and the
laboratory. Good progress has also been made in terms of recovery, thanks to
the contribution made by the contractualisation system.
